During April we had a fine weekend in Norwich where we sang in the Norman Cathedral at lunchtime on 7th and with the Norwich Phoenix Choir on Saturday 8th in the evening. On Saturday 22nd April we performed at an evening concert in Market Rasen where our soloist was the delightful Alicia Hill, (ex Cantamus).
Our penultimate concert, together with soloist Olivia Caputa, another talented former Cantamus singer, was on 3rd June at Sutton on Trent Methodist Church. This was to celebrate the Diamond Wedding of a long term choir member, Gordon Ellis, and his wife. We are happy to report that as a result of this event £1,275 was raised for their Church funds.
Thursday the 20th April saw the first of seven weekly sessions of our Free Singing Course when 14 potential singers attended. This successful venture had its 6th learning session on 25th May and on the 8th June the course concluded with a presentation of Certificates and a social for friends and partners.
Our last Concert was on Saturday 1st July at St Mary’s Church, East Leake when the soloist was Nottingham’s young musician of the year – Clarinetist Matthew Glendenning.
