Since taking up the baton in September new MD Michael Bonshor has guided us in two Concerts and, on 15th November, at a Service celebrating the life of Richard Cumberland, one of our long standing members. Richard’s recent death was a great loss to us as well as to his family and friends to whom we express our condolences.
The Choir sang at at Keyworth in October at a concert in support of RNLI which raised over £1700 for that worthy charity. On November 18th, together with our guests from the Land of Song, the Beaufort Male Choir, we performed at a well attended concert in Grantham as a result of which the Christchurch community Project benefited by over £2500.00.
We would like to to express Christmas wishs and sincere thanks to Michael’s predecessor, Paul Hayward, for his hard work and expert tuition over the six months of his tenure. Amongst the successes of that period was the Singing Course taught by Paul as a result of which 7 new members joined us and others given a taste of our hobby.
Our next concerts comprise our Christmas “Double Bill” when, on December 16th, we perform, together with the Newstead Brass Band and the Radcliffe Junior School Choir, both a Matinee and Evening Christmas Charity Concert at St Mary’s Parish Church in Radcliffe in Trent. The Chosen recipient of the proceeds is the Friary Drop-in cntre in West Bridgford.
